Hyderabad: Hyderabad has seen a spike in demand for fish, a winter favourite, leading to bustling fish outlets across different areas.

Amid the winter season, the sale of other popular fried food items has also surged, drawing significant crowds to these outlets in Hyderabad.

Customers of all ages flock to these spots, seeking comfort in fried fish, a cherished dish that gains even more popularity during this season. Stalls offer a variety of fish, including Simon, Pamphlet, and Black Raho.

Local winter specialties like ‘Doodh Jalebi’, ‘Gajar ka Halwa’, chicken corn soup, Kashmiri tea, fried fish, ‘samosa’, ‘pakora’, ‘vegetable rolls’, hot coffee, and other sought-after items are being relished by people, especially now.

‘Gajar ka Halwa’ stands out as a beloved winter treat, while Chicken Corn Soup remains a top choice among customers, particularly during the colder months. Health experts caution against excessive consumption of fried items due to potential health risks.

However, concerns arise over the open sale of substandard food in Hyderabad markets due to inadequate actions by authorities. Numerous stalls and shops in various neighborhoods sell traditional fried foods in unhygienic conditions, disregarding health standards and posing a threat to consumers, especially children.

Reportedly, these food items are prepared in low-quality cooking oil openly on main roads, despite regulations prohibiting such practices. Citizens have raised complaints about hotels and restaurants failing to adhere to cleanliness and safety protocols. They demand strict measures against those compromising public health.
