HRCP Holds Mobilisation Meeting Amid 40 Child Abuse Cases in Sindh
News Desk
Hyderabad: As many as 40 sexual incidents involving children have been reported in Sindh province during the last three months, including 15 minor girls and 25 minor boys.
In this regard, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) holds a mobilisation meeting in Hyderabad to address the alarming rise in child sexual abuse and murder cases in Sindh.
HRCP Coordinator Ghafrana Arain emphasised the need to mobilise collective action, including all stakeholders—civil society, human rights defenders, government departments, lawyers, and journalists—to prevent child sexual abuse and murder.
Children Rights and Protection Activist Kashif Bajir highlighted that there are other institutions, including the National and Provincial Commissions, Social Security, and Child Protection Authority, that are not working practically, due to which the number of cases is increasing.
Women’s Action Forum Haseen Musarat suggested that awareness should be given in schools, including rural and urban areas, so that these incidents can be reduced.
