How Many Holidays Will Pakistan Get in Year 2026?

Islamabad: The federal government has officially released the schedule of public and optional holidays for the new year, outlining days off for religious, national and cultural occasions across the country.
According to the notification, there will be 11 official public holidays and 23 optional holidays during the year. After the New Year holiday on January 1, banks will remain closed on February 18 and July 1.
Among the national holidays, February 5 will be observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day, while March 23 will be marked as Pakistan Day, both being public holidays nationwide.
The government has indicated that Eid-ul-Fitr holidays are expected to fall on April 21, 22 and 23, subject to moon sighting. Official holidays will also be observed on May 1 (International Labour Day) and May 28 on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbir.
Similarly, Eid-ul-Adha holidays are expected on May 27, 28 and 29, while June 24 and 25 will be public holidays in observance of 9th and 10th Muharram respectively.
August 14 will be celebrated as Independence Day with a nationwide public holiday. In addition, August 25 is likely to be observed as a holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), while November 9 will be marked as a public holiday for the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Towards the end of the year, December 25 will be observed as a public holiday on Quaid-e-Azam Day, while December 26 will be a holiday for the Christian community.
The notification clarified that the final dates for holidays related to Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Muharram-ul-Haram and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will be confirmed through separate notifications, subject to the sighting of the moon.
