Houthis Claim Strikes on Sanaa, Riyadh

News Desk

SANAA: The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi rebels intensified on Saturday, with reports of extensive airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and claims of a missile attack on an Aramco facility near Riyadh.

The Houthis stated that Saudi aircraft conducted 26 strikes on Sanaa, while smoke and flames were observed rising from the oil giant’s facility in the south of the Saudi capital.

The Houthis asserted responsibility for the attack on the Aramco site, utilizing ballistic missiles and drones. However, Saudi Arabia has yet to confirm these claims.

The ongoing hostilities have escalated since the Houthis captured Yemen’s entire Red Sea coast and gained control over the strategically significant Bab al-Mandab strait in a rapid offensive.

This escalation raises significant concerns for regional stability and international oil markets, as the conflict threatens to disrupt vital shipping routes and energy supplies.

The situation also poses challenges for the Saudi government, which faces increasing pressure to respond decisively to Houthi provocations while managing its international relations.

In a related development, U.S. media outlet Axios reported that key national security aides of former President Donald Trump convened secretly at Camp David to discuss the ongoing conflict in

Yemen and the broader implications of tensions with Iran. This meeting underscores the international dimension of the conflict and the potential for further diplomatic engagement.
