Bride & Groom among six killed in gas cylinder explosion

Islamabad: A powerful gas cylinder explosion inside a double-storey house in Sector G-7/2 on Sunday killed five people, injured several others, and damaged nearby homes, triggering a major rescue operation by Islamabad Police and emergency teams.
According to a police spokesperson, the blast occurred during wedding preparations, causing the roof to collapse and trapping several residents under debris. Emergency teams evacuated 15 people from the affected house, while four injured were immediately shifted to Polyclinic Hospital for treatment. The force of the explosion also affected adjacent homes.

The area has been cordoned off, with DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq personally supervising search-and-rescue operations. Senior police officers, firefighters, and other emergency units are working to clear debris, locate any additional trapped individuals, and assess structural risks.
The cause of the blast is under investigation, though initial reports suggest a gas leakage inside the house. DIG Tariq urged residents to cooperate with authorities and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to assist affected families and secure the area.
