High Alert Issued in Murree Amid Severe Weather Forecast

Rawalpindi: The District Administration of Murree and Rescue 1122 have issued a high alert following a weather advisory predicting heavy rain, snowfall, hailstorms, and strong winds in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas from Dec 29, 2025, to Jan 2, 2026.

All rescue stations have been placed on high alert, with ambulances, fire vehicles, motorcycles, and trained personnel deployed round the clock. Specialized teams are stationed at hazard-prone locations, main roads, and tourist areas, while a 24/7 control room will coordinate with highway machinery and road clearance units.

Authorities have urged residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel, especially at night, and to monitor weather and traffic updates. Travelers are advised to:

Carry warm clothing, gloves, water, and dry fruits

Ensure tyre chains are fitted and vehicles are roadworthy

Keep fuel tanks full and batteries fully charged

Exercise caution with vehicle heaters to avoid suffocation
