Heavy Traffic Banned in Karachi on Eid Milad Days

News Desk

Islamabad: The Karachi Traffic Police has imposed a ban on heavy vehicles across the city on the 11th and 12th of Rabi ul Awal to ensure a smooth traffic flow and public safety during Eid Milad un Nabi processions, scheduled for September 6.

Officials said the decision was taken due to the large religious gatherings and rallies expected across Karachi. With main and link roads likely to remain congested, the temporary restriction aims to minimize the risk of accidents and safeguard citizens.

Growing concerns over fatal traffic accidents

The step follows a sharp rise in deadly road accidents this year. In 2025 alone, at least 555 people have lost their lives in Karachi due to traffic incidents, with 169 fatalities involving heavy vehicles.

Dumper trucks accounted for 34 deaths, trailers for 63, while water tankers and buses were linked to 37 and 35 fatalities, respectively highlighting the alarming role of heavy traffic in Karachi’s road tragedies.
