Heavy Fog Forces Closure of Key Motorways
News Desk
Lahore: Dense fog continued to cause severe disruption across major cities in Pakistan on Tuesday, reducing visibility and forcing the closure of several motorway sections.
The thick fog has significantly affected road traffic in multiple regions. A spokesperson for the Motorway Police confirmed that the following sections have been closed to all types of traffic:
M2: Lahore to Hiran Minar
M3: Lahore to Darkhana
M4: Faisalabad to Multan
M5: Multan to Zahir Pir and Guddu to Rohri
M11: Lahore to Sialkot
The Motorway Police advised that the safest travel times during foggy conditions are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. They urged motorists to use the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, drive slowly, and switch on fog lights while traveling.
Authorities also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Dense fog has similarly disrupted traffic on the National Highways, where visibility ranges from 0 to 100 meters.
Motorists seeking assistance or guidance can contact the NHMP helpline at 130, the police added.
