Haripur Rape Offender Sentenced To 20 years In Prison

Haripur: Haripur District and Session Judge Asghar Ali sentenced a man to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping a 9-year-old girl there.

The verdict states that the convicted Sohail received sentences in two cases; the first under section 377/B, where the accused received 15 years in prison and a one million rupee fine, and the second under section 53 of the Child Protection Act, where the accused received a five-year prison sentence.

PPP leader Advocate Gulnaz Rasheed and plaintiff’s lawyer, declared following the court’s ruling that the conviction of the defendant for the horrible crime of child abuse would be crucial for the protection of our children and the preservation of society.

She said, “We have been fighting for the last few years to put an end to this crime, and the honourable court has granted a much-needed judgement in favour of the victim that would help deter others from committing such a crime.”
