Gangster Teefi Butt Shot Dead by Own Associates

Rahim Yar Khan: Khwaja Tareef, alias Teefi Butt, a notorious Lahore-based gangster and the prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case, was shot dead by his own associates during an alleged police encounter on the outskirts of Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday morning, according to police sources.
Initial reports suggest that Teefi Butt, who had recently been extradited from Dubai through Interpol, was being transported to Lahore for interrogation when armed men ambushed the police convoy on Ahmedpur Lama Road.
The attackers, believed to be his close associates, opened fire on the vehicle, killing Teefi Butt on the spot before fleeing the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the exchange of gunfire triggered panic among residents in the area. Police have taken the body into custody and initiated a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Teefi Butt, long considered one of Lahore’s most feared underworld figures, was allegedly involved in multiple cases of land grabbing, extortion, and illegal possession of weapons. He had remained a wanted man across Punjab for years, operating a vast criminal network through loyal gang members.
Law enforcement officials described his death as a major setback for Punjab’s urban mafia networks. “This incident shows that the underworld has lost its sense of loyalty and control,” said one senior police officer, suggesting that the killing reflected deepening mistrust and internal rivalries within criminal groups.
Investigators suspect that Teefi Butt’s associates may have orchestrated the attack to take over his operations or prevent him from disclosing sensitive information during interrogation.
Observers have described the killing as “a story of betrayal from within” — a dramatic downfall not engineered by state forces but by the very men who once protected him.
