Fugitive Rape Suspect Tracked and Arrested in Islamabad

Iislamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in the jurisdiction of Karachi Company Police Station.
According to an official source, the incident was reported on July 13, 2025, when the female victim submitted a written complaint, accusing a man named Liaqat of sexually assaulting her. Acting promptly, police registered FIR No. 867 under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and initiated a formal investigation.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq took immediate notice of the case and issued special directives for the arrest of the suspect. A special investigation team was constituted under the supervision of SSP Investigation.
The official said that teams from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Karachi Company Police used scientific and technical methods to trace the accused, who had fled the scene after the incident. He was subsequently arrested and presented before a court, where police secured his physical remand for further investigation.
DIG Tariq lauded the efforts of the police teams and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to justice. “Crimes against women and children are absolutely intolerable. All legal requirements will be fulfilled to ensure exemplary punishment for the accused,” he stated.
