Foggy Conditions May Cause Health Complications
News Desk
Islamabad: Dense foggy conditions, continuing in Punjab, the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh in the coming days, can cause health complications among the citizens, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in its Wednesday advisory, cautioned about potential health issues arising from exposure to ongoing dense fog conditions among citizens.
Stating the persistence of dense fog over Punjab, including Islamabad, the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh due to a stable atmosphere, the PMD highlighted a rain-bearing westerly system anticipated to enter Balochistan by January 4, possibly impacting parts of the region until January 5.

The weather system’s influence is expected to bring light to moderate rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills in various areas, including Chaghi, Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, and others, on January 4 and 5.
Regarding the impact of the foggy conditions, the PMD forecasted a drop of 03–05 degrees in daytime temperatures in the upcoming days. Additionally, very cold weather conditions are anticipated in fog-affected areas, potentially disrupting flight, railway, and highway/motorway operations.
Travellers have been strongly advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility levels during foggy periods, recommending against unnecessary travel particularly during the morning and night hours.
