Flash Floods Kill 20 in KP, PDMA Confirms

News Desk

Peshawar: At least 20 people, including eight children and five women, have lost their lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as torrential monsoon rains triggered flash floods across the province, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Sunday.

According to the PDMA’s damage assessment, Swat district has emerged as the worst-hit area. The ongoing spell of heavy rainfall has also left at least 10 people injured, while infrastructure and livestock have suffered significant losses.

The report stated that six houses were completely destroyed, and 51 others sustained partial damage in various districts. In addition, six livestock were killed, mainly due to the collapse of roofs caused by the intense downpours.

Rescue and relief efforts are currently underway, with emergency response teams and local administrations placed on high alert as further rainfall is predicted in the coming days.

The PDMA has urged residents in flood-prone and vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures and stay in close contact with local authorities for timely updates and assistance.
