Karak: In a major counterterrorism operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel gunned down five hardcore terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mir Kalam Banda area of tehsil Banda Daud Shah.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists and their facilitators, the CTD launched a grand operation, leading to a heavy exchange of fire. A clearance operation was still underway to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
In light of the security situation, the CTD has issued a high-security alert for the general public, urging citizens to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
The latest operation follows a militant attack on the Bahadur Khel police checkpoint in Karak last Wednesday night, which resulted in the martyrdom of three police personnel and injuries to six others.
Separately, security forces eliminated seven terrorists in different encounters across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday. In an operation in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan district on the night between Feb 8 and 9, three terrorists were killed and two others wounded in an exchange of fire.
In another operation in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan, security forces engaged militants, killing four and injuring three others, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Security agencies continue to intensify operations against terrorist elements in the region to ensure stability and safety.
