Five Killed in Swat Suicide Blast

Swat: A suicide bomber was stopped from entering Kabal Police Station in Swat on Sunday before detonating explosives near the facility’s main gate, killing five people and injuring 15 others, police and local administration officials said.

According to Malakand DIG Syed Fida Hussain, officers stationed at the entrance prevented the attacker from entering the police station, forcing him to detonate the explosive device outside the gate.

“The suicide bomber was attempting to enter Kabal Police Station, but officers on duty stopped him,” the DIG said.

Assistant Commissioner Kabal confirmed that the blast claimed five lives and left 15 people wounded. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Swat District Police Officer Muhammad Omar said the explosion occurred near Kabal Chowk, close to the police station. He added that investigators recovered a human head from the blast site, which is believed to belong to the suspected suicide bomber.

Officials said a protest by local youths was taking place in the area when the explosion occurred, potentially increasing the number of people caught in the blast.

Security forces cordoned off the area after the attack, while investigators began collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the bombing. Further investigation is underway.
