First Christian Female SHO Appointed In Kurram district

Islamabad: The 35-year-old Samreen Amir, who belongs to the Christian community, is appointed as the first woman Station House Officer (SHO) for the first time in the history of the tribal Kurram district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The newly appointed SHO, Samreen Aamir expressed her happiness and said that her appointment has not only spread a wave of happiness in the Christian community but also among the local tribes.

Samreen added that she will devote all her energies to solving the problems of women, and the confidence shown by the government will be fulfilled.

Women are facing many problems in Karam district, and they will try to eliminate these problems and create facilities for women, added SHO Aamir.

About her service in the police, Samreen told that 13 years ago, before the FATA merger, she joined the police force as a lady searcher. While today, she is performing the duties of an SHO owing to her hard work.

Amir also mentioned that she had a passion for defending the country, and her family as well as her community gave immense support to fulfil her dream which she is proud of.

Christian community in Parachinar Leader Riaz Masih said that while other women’s problems will be solved by the appointment of a female officer, minority women will also benefit from the appointment of Samreen.

Tribal Leader Haji Abid Hussain added that in tribal districts bound by customs and traditions, women were facing difficulties explaining their problems in front of male police officers.

While the appointment of a new female police officer will enable the tribal women to express their problems in a better way, Abid added.
