Father Attempts to Throw Three Children Off Lahore Bridge

Lahore: In a disturbing incident on Thursday, police officers deployed for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s protocol duty foiled a man’s attempt to throw his three children off the Dharampura bridge in Lahore.

The alert officers, stationed along the CM’s route to monitor enforcement of the canal swimming ban, swiftly intervened and prevented the tragedy. The suspect, identified as Tasawwar Abbas from Jhang, was arrested on the spot.

According to police, Abbas a drug addict and unemployed allegedly tried to kill his children after being abandoned by his wife. He reportedly cited his inability to provide for the children as a motive.

The rescued children a 10-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy, and a 3-year-old girl were immediately shifted to the Child Protection Bureau. A case of attempted murder has been registered against the accused.

Authorities confirmed that the Chief Minister was minutes away from passing through the area when the incident occurred.
