Experts Warn Dengue Outbreak Could Intensify Through Dec

News Desk

Islamabad: Health authorities have sounded the alarm as dengue cases continue to climb sharply across several districts, warning that the outbreak could worsen in the coming weeks and persist through December if urgent preventive measures are not taken.

Dengue expert Dr. Faheem told a local news channel that the latest spike is mainly due to stagnant water left by intermittent rains, which has created ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes. “If timely action is not taken, the situation could spiral out of control,” he cautioned.

He urged district administrations to intensify fumigation drives, clear clogged drains, and launch mass awareness campaigns to control the spread. Highlighting the vital role of public cooperation, Dr. Faheem appealed to citizens to inspect their homes and neighborhoods, eliminate standing water, and use mosquito repellents.

“Dengue prevention begins at home,” he stressed, warning that only collective community efforts can stop the disease from spreading further.

Authorities have instructed civic bodies and health departments to work in close coordination to ensure swift response and support. Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral infection, causes high fever, severe headaches, joint and muscle pain, and skin rashes — with severe cases potentially leading to internal bleeding or organ failure.

Health experts have urged citizens to remain on high alert and take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.
