Islamabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet today (Monday) in Islamabad, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, to observe the moon of Zil-Hajj.

Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid ul-Adha on the 10th of Zil-Hajj. In Pakistan, moon sighting efforts take place on the 29th of each Islamic month.

Today, Zonal and Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will convene across the country. If the moon is sighted, Eid ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 6; if not, it will be observed on June 7.

However, experts believe the likelihood of sighting the moon on May 27 is very low, making June 7 the more probable date for Eid.

Pakistan’s national space agency, SUPARCO, has also ruled out the possibility of moon sighting on May 27, indicating that the moon is expected to be visible on May 28, which would place Eid ul-Adha on June 7.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will officially declare the Eid date later tonight based on the moon sighting reports.
