Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema stated that concerted efforts were in progress to curb the proliferation of dengue larvae.

He chaired a meeting to evaluate the preparations against dengue and highlighted that over a thousand workers were engaged in surveillance to detect dengue larvae breeding sites, with the vigilance and performance of anti-dengue teams under constant scrutiny.

In the initial phase, 77 percent of the areas affected by dengue last year had been cleared.

Cheema instructed the Punjab Food Department to place banners in hotels and restaurants to raise awareness about the dangers of dengue.

Moreover, he urged health officials to compile an updated list of tyre shops and junkyards in their jurisdictions and take stringent action against those disregarding dengue prevention protocols.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Zanira Aftab, CEO Health Dr Ijaz, DDHOs, and other relevant departmental officials.
