Dense Fog Forces Closure of Peshawar–Swabi Motorway Section

The Peshawar Toll Plaza to Swabi section of the M-1 Motorway was temporarily closed for all traffic on Tuesday after dense fog reduced visibility to just a few metres.

According to the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), heavy fog severely limited drivers’ visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. Authorities suspended traffic movement as a precautionary measure to ensure commuter safety.

Motorway Police officials said driving in dense fog is extremely hazardous, particularly when visibility drops sharply. They added that traffic would be restored gradually once the fog lifts and conditions improve.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions. Those who must travel should use fog lights, maintain a low speed, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. Travelers can contact Helpline 130 for the latest updates and advisories.
