Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Sunday arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in a double-murder case that occurred outside the District Courts, officials said.
According to a police spokesperson, the Ramna Police team traced and apprehended the accused, Shahid Saeed, who had been on the run after killing two men and injuring another in a brazen daylight attack near the courts.
The incident, which took place within the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station, claimed the lives of Tafseer Hussain Shah and Wajid, while Nazir Abbasi sustained serious injuries when the accused and his accomplices opened indiscriminate fire outside the court premises.
The police team utilized modern technical tools and scientific investigation methods to locate and arrest the fugitive.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused had a criminal history and was already wanted in multiple cases registered in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
SSP (Operations) Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan lauded the police team for their swift and professional action, emphasizing that the suspect would be presented before the court with solid evidence to ensure exemplary punishment.
He reiterated that Islamabad Police were taking strict and indiscriminate action against criminals involved in heinous crimes to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
Suspect Arrested After Attacking Traffic Police in Islamabad’s I-8
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested a suspect and impounded his vehicle after he allegedly attacked Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) personnel during a routine checking in I-8 Markaz and fled the scene.
According to police, a traffic sergeant signaled a black Honda Civic to stop after witnessing dangerous driving. The driver, reportedly under the influence, became violent — hurling abuses, assaulting officers, tearing a sergeant’s uniform, and snatching his official wireless set. He then attempted to run them over with the vehicle.
While escaping, the suspect opened fire with a pistol, causing panic among nearby citizens.
On the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CIA teams and the SHO of Industrial Area Police Station traced and arrested the accused within hours, recovering the vehicle used in the incident.
A case (FIR No. 1366/25) has been registered under Sections 279, 382, 353, 186, 324, 506-II PPC and 7-ATA, and further investigation is underway.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt. (R) Hamzah Humayun commended the swift police response, stating that no one would be allowed to endanger law enforcement personnel.
“Islamabad Police will not tolerate any attempt to harm police officers on duty. Respect for law is mandatory — no one is above the law,” he said.
Residents also praised the police for their prompt action.
Tahir Azad, a government employee, said the quick arrest boosted public confidence in the force.
Another eyewitness, Mudassir Ahmed, stressed that while an inquiry could determine the cause of the altercation, “violence against police officers is never justified.”
