Diabetic Injection Resulted In Two Cases Of Visual Impairment

Multan: Two of the three patients hailing from Jhang had lost the sight of one eye, while the third could see partially after the wrong treatment with an injection used for diabetics to restore vision, according to official sources on Monday.
Doctors are trying to stop the infection from developing into the second eye of the patients who are under treatment at Nishtar Hospital after losing their vision, according to sources.
All three patients are elderly, including Ghulam Fatima (73), Zahida Bibi (65), and Sardar Muhammad (64), and one of the females is a confirmed sugar patient, while a test for another has been sent to the pathology lab for confirmation, and the third patient is non-diabetic.
The patients were referred to Nishtar Hospital from District Head Quarters (DHQ) Hospital in Jhang, where they were injected on September 21.
All medicines are being provided to the patients from the Nishtar health facility, even on a local purchase basis, they added.
