Dengue Crisis Deepens: Punjab Records 211 New Cases In Single Day

Lahore: Punjab continues to grapple with the dengue outbreak, as 211 new cases were reported on Thursday alone. According to the latest data from the Health Department, a staggering total of 10,969 confirmed dengue cases have surfaced across 36 districts in Punjab this year.

Currently, 181 patients are undergoing treatment in various emergency clinics throughout Punjab, with 91 of them hospitalized in the Lahore district.

The escalating number of cases underscores the urgency for concerted efforts in disease prevention, mosquito control, and public awareness. The situation remains concerning, with Narowal reporting seven cases and Sheikhupura and Kasur reporting three each. Meanwhile, Okara, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Lodhran each recorded two cases within the same time frame. Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Jhelum, and Bhakkar each reported a case of dengue within 24 hours.

Punjab Health Secretary Ali Jaan Khan issued a compelling plea for citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings as a preventive measure against dengue fever. Khan urged cooperation with health department teams, which are working tirelessly to combat the outbreak.
