DC vows transparency, public input in Murree Project

Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, on Thursday visited Mall Road to review the ongoing and proposed development works and met with residents affected by the project along the hillside.
During the visit, the DC listened to the concerns of the affectees, who also shared their suggestions regarding the proposed development plan. DC Shirazi assured them that their recommendations would be given due consideration before finalizing the plan.

He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Murree Kamran Sagheer, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Murree Faisal Ahmed, and officers from all relevant departments.
The DC said that the Punjab Government was implementing the Murree Beautification Plan, which aims to establish a recreational park and enhance public facilities along Mall Road to make the area more attractive, clean, and tourist-friendly.
He emphasized that complete transparency and fairness would be ensured in the execution of the project. “Public welfare projects are our top priority, and no negligence or laxity will be tolerated in their implementation,” DC Shirazi affirmed.

The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have reopened Murree Road for all types of vehicular traffic, easing congestion and providing major relief to commuters traveling between the twin cities.
According to a CTP spokesperson, while the Faizabad Interchange remains temporarily closed, all sections of Murree Road are now fully operational, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic.
Traffic is also reported to be moving steadily along Mall Road, Peshawar Road, Khanna Pul, and Kuri Road, with no major bottlenecks. Similarly, movement remains normal on Jhelum Road, Kacheri Chowk, Swan Bridge, and both sides of Old Airport Road.
