Currency Declaration App Introduced For Foreign Travellers
News Desk
Islamabad: In order to assist international visitors with their currency declaration even before coming to airport, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) launched a smartphone application called Pass Trackon Thursday.
Member Custom Mukarram Jah Ansari told that the app has undergone extensive testing, and numerous new features have been included to make it easier for passengers to fill out all the necessary information.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced last month that the cash-carrying restrictions for outgoing travellers would be revised. The FBR has therefore announced the revised cash carrying limits.
According to the revised notification, the maximum restriction per person per visit has been lowered to $5,000 and the yearly cap has now been established at $30,000 for passengers flying outside of Afghanistan.
For individuals under the age of 18, the maximum monetary limit has been set at $2500 each visit and the annual limit has been reduced to $15000.
The maximum amount of cash that can be brought into Afghanistan per person is $1000 every visit and the maximum amount allowed in a year is $6000.
Mukarram Jah informed that any incoming passengers with foreign currency above US$10,000 or its equivalent are also obliged to file a declaration. Additionally, a maximum of Rs 10,000 can be carried out in Pakistani currency.
He added that SBP has made it necessary for anyone carrying foreign currency to submit a declaration to Customs. Pakistan Customs has worked with the National Technology Board (NTTB) to create a web-based mobile App that will allow travellers travelling internationally to electronically file the declaration.
Ansari described the characteristics of the app and noted that it could be downloaded from the Play store and App store, and it has a web version that is accessible. It provides step by step guidance to the travellers making it easier for them to file declaration and any person can register on the App using his/her mobile number.
Member Custom added that the App will display the prior declaration in the previous calendar year and the available annual limit. Passengers will only need to give personal information once, after which the system will automatically fill out the form upon logging in on the subsequent visit.
