Muzaffargarh: A local court in Muzaffargarh has acquitted Basit, the brother who was accused of murdering his three young sisters. The decision comes nearly two and a half years after the tragic incident.
The dismembered bodies of the sisters—7-year-old Abiha, 8-year-old Zahra, and 11-year-old Arisha—were discovered in a residential quarter adjacent to their house in the Thermal Colony of Muzaffargarh. Following the murders, Basit, the siblings’ brother, was arrested and confessed to the crime.
According to police sources, the acquittal was granted due to the consent of the victims’ parents, who reportedly played a role in securing their son’s release.
Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Asif issued the acquittal order. DPO Muzaffargarh Syed Hasnain Haider stated that the decision will be reviewed and an appeal will be considered once the written judgment is issued.
