Commission ‘mafia’ blamed for load-shedding in country

Exclusive: The commission mafia has been held responsible for current load-shedding in the country, The PenPk has learnt.

Sources said it was the commission mafia due to which power shortfall acceded to 8000 MW in a few days.

It is to mention here that not only in other major cities of the country but the duration of power load-shedding in the capital city has also reached five to 10 hours.

Hydroelectric power plants were meeting the power needs of the country until they were operational; however, they were shut down by making the thermal power plants operational, the sources informed.

The sources maintained that Power outages in Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Pakistan Electric Supply Company (PEPCO) and Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO) have put the lives of ordinary citizens into trouble.

The credible sources said that more than 10,000 megawatts of electricity were being generated from hydraulic power and the remaining capacity was being filled from thermal power but the ‘power mafia’ has shut down the hydraulic plants, putting the entire burden on thermal plants.

The sources further said that the commission ‘mafia’ has expensive contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for the generation of electricity and they would not tolerate power generation from hydraulic plants.

The sources said that the country needs 26,700 megawatts of electricity while the production is only 18,000 megawatts.
