COAS Vows Action Against Indian Proxies, Terrorists in Balochistan

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate Indian-backed proxies and terrorist networks operating in Balochistan, describing them as forces working against the province’s peace and development.

“India-backed proxies, Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij, are propagating anti-people and anti-development agendas in Balochistan with malicious intent to perpetrate violence,” he said while addressing participants of the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

“All necessary actions are being taken to pursue these terrorists and rid the province of this menace,” the field marshal asserted.

Highlighting Balochistan’s strategic and economic importance, the army chief said the province is the pride of Pakistan, enriched with vibrant, resilient, and patriotic citizens who form its true strength.

He lauded the federal and provincial governments’ initiatives to uplift Balochistan’s socio-economic landscape through a people-centric approach and called for realising its immense economic potential.

Underscoring the importance of youth engagement, Field Marshal Munir appreciated the constructive role of civil society in empowering young people to drive sustainable development and counter divisive political agendas.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability but warned that any violation of the country’s territorial integrity — direct or indirect — would be met with a firm and decisive response to protect the lives and well-being of its citizens.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session between the COAS and participants, focusing on development, security, and governance challenges in the province.

According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have borne the brunt of terrorism in recent months, accounting for more than 96 percent of violence across the country. Balochistan alone witnessed around 25 percent of the total fatalities and incidents.

During his recent visit to the province, Field Marshal Munir had also emphasized the need for coordinated civil-military efforts to address the challenges faced by the people of Balochistan.
