Rawalpindi: Participants of the National Security Workshop-27 (NSW-27) visited Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday, receiving detailed briefings on the country’s regional and internal security environment.

The delegation held an interactive session with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who highlighted the fluid regional situation shaped by geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism, and hybrid threats.

He emphasized that despite externally supported militancy and information-centric warfare, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions continue to demonstrate professionalism and resolve in safeguarding national security, according to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The COAS described Pakistan as a “country of consequence,” destined to secure its rightful place among nations. He noted that the professionalism and commitment displayed during Marka-e-Haq had enhanced Pakistan’s global stature.

Stressing national unity as the country’s greatest strength, he reaffirmed that Pakistan will overcome the nefarious designs of its adversaries, Insha’Allah.

Delegates were also briefed on national measures against illegal activities, including crackdowns on smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and organised crime. Updates were shared on enhanced border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners to maintain internal order and protect national interests.

The COAS reiterated that the security, territorial integrity, and protection of all Pakistani citizens remain paramount for the Pakistan Army and will not be compromised. He underscored the importance of coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy to ensure lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.

NSW-27, the flagship programme of the National Defence University (NDU), brings together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers, and representatives from academia and civil society.
