Zhob: At least eight people have died due to the Cholera outbreak in Balochistan’s Zhob district during the last week, hospital sources said on Saturday.
The Cholera epidemic is going out of control of the district health authorities in both city and villages, the sources said, adding that the hospitals face a shortage of medicines.
As per the civil hospital sources, as many as 4,500 cases have been reported since the last week. Women, children, and elderly people are also among the worst hit. The hospital sources said that the number of patients in the hospital is increasing day by day.
The Civil Hospital MS has urged the people to take precautionary measures, adding that due to torrential rains, there is a possibility that the disease will spread further.
The MS said there is a shortage of medicines in the hospital, adding that the relevant authorities have been informed about this crisis situation in the district.
The leading administrator said apart from Zhob city, hundreds of patients from Shirani and Qamaruddin Kariz were being treated at Civil Hospital Zhob.
Cholera is water related disease. Lack of awareness is one of the major contributory cause. The rains which follow the dry hot months with water shortages, people put caution to the wind. They are simply glad to have any water at all.
This entire area of concern needs special attention by authorities particularly the health authorities.
