Chase Leads West Indies to 344 Against Pakistan

West Indies captain Roston Chase produced a crucial captain’s knock to put Pakistan under pressure in the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, guiding his team to a competitive first-innings total of 344.

Starting the second day at 239 for five, the hosts added another 105 runs before being bowled out in the 106th over, with Chase and Justin Greaves playing key roles in extending West Indies’ advantage.

The overnight pair continued to frustrate Pakistan’s bowlers early in the day, adding 30 more runs before Greaves’ dismissal ended their valuable partnership. Greaves emerged as West Indies’ top scorer with 73 runs from 150 balls, including nine boundaries.

Chase then took responsibility with the bat, building important partnerships in the lower order. The West Indies skipper scored a composed 70 off 126 deliveries, hitting 11 fours, before being dismissed by Ubaid Shah.

Pakistan’s bowlers managed to make breakthroughs at regular intervals, but West Indies’ lower order added vital runs. Kemar Roach, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican helped push the total beyond the 340-run mark.

Sajid Khan was Pakistan’s most successful bowler, finishing with four wickets for 85 runs in 32.4 overs, while Mohammad Ali, Ali Usman and Ubaid Shah claimed two wickets each.

The strong finish came after a challenging opening day for West Indies, who had been reduced to early pressure following Pakistan’s decision to bowl first. Rain interruptions limited the first session, but the hosts recovered through important contributions from their middle order.

Chase and Greaves’ resilience has given West Indies a significant advantage, leaving Pakistan with the task of responding strongly with the bat to stay in control of the match.
