Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) demolished a part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretariat in Islamabad in the early hours of Friday.

According to sources in Islamabad, the PTI office was sealed already and when the CDA team reached the spot to demolish the structure, they offered resistance.  The development authority claimed that the Secretariat is constructed on illegal land, which is not PTI property.

PTI leader Umar Ayub said that the Islamabad administration conducted the operation in the dead of night without any notice, seizing the PTI office. He said the police also arrested PTL leader Aamir Mughal.

Before the operation, the police had blocked the roads leading to the PTI Secretariat, sources added.

During the operation, the CDA demolished a part of the PTI Secretariat.

According to the CDA management, the operation was carried out to address violations of building regulations, illegal constructions, and encroachments. The CDA stated that the plot in Sector G-8/4 is allocated to a person named Sartaj Ali.
