“Protecting the lives, property, and dignity of citizens is the Islamabad Police’s top priority,” he stated.

ICT Administration Cracks Down on Price Gouging

In response to rising food costs, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified efforts to combat price gouging among vendors, following directives from Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon.

Magistrate Mir Yamin, leading a price check operation in the G-15 area, along with the 26 No. Chungi and surrounding neighborhoods, conducted inspections at local markets and grocery stores to ensure compliance with government-set prices for essential items.

During the operation, several vendors were fined for selling vegetables and fruits above the official rate list. Additionally, a wholesaler found to be charging inflated prices was arrested and taken to the Tarnol police station for further legal action.

Magistrate Mir Yamin emphasized the district administration’s commitment to ensuring affordable access to food for all citizens. “We are continuously conducting operations against price gougers to protect consumers,” he stated.

He urged the public to report any instances of overcharging and reiterated that shopkeepers must adhere to the established prices. “Violators will face strict penalties,” he warned, encouraging residents to lodge complaints against vendors engaging in unfair pricing practices.
