British Parliament Slams India’s Role in Kashmir Standoff
News Desk
Islamabad: A recently released research report by the British Parliament has raised alarms over the Kashmir dispute, warning that the decades-old conflict between India and Pakistan holds the potential to escalate into a nuclear war.
The comprehensive 42-page report highlights the contrasting approaches of both countries. While India continues to advocate for bilateral negotiations, Pakistan calls for international mediation in line with the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir.
The report accuses India of using a suspicious incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir to justify military action against Pakistan, branding it a serious threat to regional peace and stability. It criticizes New Delhi’s “aggressive posture,” alleging that India has resorted to force, threats, and blame games, whereas Pakistan has maintained a “defensive strategy guided by responsibility, patience, and adherence to international law.”
Moreover, the report accuses India of consistently obstructing efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue by disregarding UN resolutions. It also holds the international community — particularly the United States and the United Kingdom — accountable for their inaction and lack of commitment in addressing the potentially catastrophic crisis.
The British Parliament’s findings add urgency to renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
