Islamabad: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has acknowledged his team’s struggles in executing their game plans, which has led to back-to-back defeats in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

Speaking after a crushing 102-run loss to Islamabad United, Babar admitted that both the batting and bowling departments have failed to make an impact during the critical first six overs of matches.

“We still have several games ahead. InshaAllah, we’ll work hard to make a strong comeback in the tournament,” he said optimistically.

When questioned about guiding young talents like Ali Raza and Sufiyan Muqeem, Babar shared that the team’s management is actively mentoring them and helping them adjust to the demands of current playing conditions.

He also expressed his gratitude for having seasoned cricketing figures like Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed as part of the team’s support staff, noting that their experience and insights are a valuable asset for the squad.

It’s worth mentioning that Peshawar Zalmi has now lost both of its opening matches in PSL 10.

In their latest encounter, Islamabad United registered their second consecutive win by defeating Zalmi by 102 runs in the fifth match of the season at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Chasing a daunting target of 244, Peshawar Zalmi were bowled out for 141 in 18.2 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris was the lone fighter for Zalmi, scoring a valiant 87 off 47 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. However, no other batter managed to support him, with seven players failing to reach double figures.

Babar Azam’s struggles continued as he was dismissed for just one run, marking a second consecutive disappointing outing with the bat.
