Islamabad: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday issued arrest warrants for 51 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including former President Dr Arif Alvi and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, in connection with a protest case registered last year.
The case, filed at the Karachi Company police station, pertains to a protest held on November 26, and is registered under FIR No. 1193.
During Thursday’s proceedings, the court issued fresh arrest warrants for 41 PTI leaders, in addition to 9 warrants issued earlier, bringing the total to 50 leaders. The warrants were issued after the accused failed to appear before the court.

Among those named in the warrants are several prominent PTI figures including:
Arif Alvi, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, Ahmed Niazi, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Swati, Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar, and Sher Afzal Marwat.
ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued the arrest orders and directed law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest and produce the accused before the court.
It is worth noting that 32 cases related to the November 24 and 26 protests are currently registered in the Rawalpindi Division, including one related to the murder of a constable in Taxila, in which Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has also been nominated.
The developments reflect an intensifying legal crackdown on the PTI leadership in the wake of multiple protest-related cases across the country.
