Any New Normal to Be Met with Harsh Response: Asim Munir

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday chaired the 272nd Corps Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where the Pakistan Army’s top leadership reviewed the internal security situation, counterterrorism operations, and emerging regional threats.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference began with prayers for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks. The Army Chief paid glowing tribute to the courage, determination, and sacrifices of Pakistan Army personnel who laid down their lives for the defense and security of the nation.

Review of Emerging Threats

The forum conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing counterterrorism operations, the internal security environment, and emerging regional challenges. It reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army is fully prepared to thwart any aggression or malicious intent against the country at all levels and remains resolute in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The corps commanders reiterated that the nexus between terrorism and crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances and vowed to eliminate all terrorist networks, including foreign-sponsored organizations operating within Pakistan.

The forum also expressed a firm resolve to dismantle the networks of “Fitna-ul-Khawarij” and “Fitna-ul-Hindustan,” reaffirming the army’s determination to remain active on all fronts to uproot terrorism from the country.

Firm Response to Indian Provocations

The corps commanders voiced deep concern over provocative statements made by the Indian leadership, terming India’s “war hysteria” a threat to regional peace and stability.

The forum made it clear that any Indian aggression would be met with a prompt and decisive response, stressing that any attempt to create a new “normal” would be countered with an even stronger and more resolute reply.

“The Pakistan Army has full capability to confront all kinds of threats,” COAS Asim Munir reiterated, directing commanders to maintain discipline, physical fitness, and operational readiness at all times.

Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Defense Cooperation Welcomed

The forum welcomed the recent Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense agreement, describing it as a historic milestone and a significant step toward enhancing regional peace and stability.

The commanders noted that the joint defense cooperation between the two brotherly nations would play a vital role in strengthening regional security partnerships and promoting mutual defense interests across the broader region.

Support for Kashmir and Palestine Reaffirmed

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the conference expressed complete solidarity with their legitimate struggle for freedom and self-determination.

The forum also reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the Palestinian cause, urging the international community to ensure an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

The commanders endorsed the two-state solution for Palestine, calling for Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to be recognized as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.

“Pakistan stands with the oppressed people of Palestine and Kashmir,” Field Marshal Asim Munir said, emphasizing that the Pakistan Army supports all diplomatic efforts for regional and global peace.

Army’s Commitment to National Security and Peace

The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the Pakistan Army’s full commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders, defeating terrorism, and maintaining peace and stability across all fronts.

The military leadership pledged to work closely with national institutions to ensure internal stability, regional harmony, and global peace, underscoring the army’s enduring role as a pillar of national security and unity.
