AJK Christians Celebrate Easter with Devotion

Mirpur: The Christian community across various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including the Mirpur district the region’s largest celebrated the Easter festival with great religious enthusiasm and devotion.

Special prayer services were organized within residential areas, particularly in Mangla town of Mirpur district, where a significant portion of the Christian population resides.

During the Easter Sunday services, participants offered prayers for the unity, integrity, and prosperity of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. They also prayed for the liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) from Indian rule.

At special gatherings held to mark the occasion including one at the Mirpur District Council Hall in Mangla Chitterpari, on the outskirts of Mirpur speakers such as Reverend Haroon Ajmal, Javeid Gill, Younis Bhatti (Supreme Head of the Mirpur Christian Foundation), and others emphasized that all necessary arrangements were made to observe Easter with full religious respect and spirit.

The speakers highlighted that, as in other parts of Pakistan, religious minorities in AJK—including the Christian community—enjoy complete freedom to practice their faith and perform religious rituals.
