After Avalanche, Bahrain-Kalam Highway Reopened For Traffic

Swat: The district administration and National Highway Authority (NHA) removed an avalanche from the Bahrain-Kalam highway, reopening it to traffic, informed Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Ishaq.

Mohammad Ishaq said that an avalanche between the Jagh and Gorait areas damaged a one kilometer section of road; suspending the road link between Bahrain and Kalam, and stranding a number of tourists.

Assistant Commissioner told that after several hours of midnight effort in spite of significant snowfall, heavy machinery was immediately deployed to remove the ice. On the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Junaid Khan, the district administration organised a rescue effort and offered the stranded tourists all the amenities they needed to be safe from the bad weather conditions.
