Acting maestro Khalid Butt Passes Away

Islamabad: Pakistani Acting maestro Khalid Butt has passed away in Lahore.

The veteran actor breathed his last on Thursday after a prolonged battle with liver and kidney diseases.

With a career spanning over five decades, Butt made his mark in the entertainment industry, starting in the 1970s.

Throughout his illustrious career, Khalid Butt graced the screens in various capacities, most recently appearing in Geo Entertainment’s ongoing drama serial, “Khaie.” While he also contributed to numerous films, his final TV appearance was in the aforementioned drama. The actor’s funeral prayer is scheduled to take place after Asr prayer on Friday, according to family sources.

Sohail Ahmed, a fellow actor, expressed condolences on X (formerly Twitter) and prayed for the departed soul to attain higher ranks in the afterlife.

Beginning his career in the 1970s, Khalid Butt showcased his talents in both serious and comedic roles across Urdu and Punjabi language movies and TV shows. The government acknowledged his significant contributions to the entertainment industry by honoring him with the Prize of Performance Award.

Khalid Butt’s memorable performances in acclaimed drama serials like “Teesra Kinara,” “Neelay Hath,” and “Boota From Toba Tek Singh” solidified his status as a distinguished actor. In addition to acting, he ventured into directing as well. Survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters, Khalid Butt’s passing has left a void in the Pakistani entertainment industry.
