‘Both Sit in Silence for a While’

Islamabad: OLOMOPOLO Media will officially present its popular theatrical production ‘Both Sit in Silence For a While’, which stars acclaimed performers Ali Junejo and Rasti Farooq, at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) starting on February 10.

The play is a 60-minute dark comedy written, directed, and co-produced by Ali Junejo. With the collaboration of the European Union, the play is currently being shown in Islamabad after enjoying great success in Karachi and Lahore.

There are only two characters in the play, and they are both in love and at odds with each other. The play in English is a rare feat for the Urdu-dominated theatre scene in the Pakistani megapolis.

“As always, OLOMOPOLO is pushing the envelope by providing you with an unconventional plot, a close-knit viewing experience, and a novel perspective on relationships,” stated co-producer Kanwal Khoosat.

Junejo began his professional life as a theatrical performer in Karachi. He has previously appeared in ‘Waiting for Godot’, ‘Dead End’, and ‘Equus’. Later, he made his acting debut in ‘Joyland’, which won two best actor awards and received numerous international nominations.

The play tickles that part of my brain that wants to see people be irrational and ruthless with one another, said Rasti Farooq, who co-produced this piece as well. Farooq has performed in various plays and short films, including ‘Stand Alone’, ‘Gidh’ and ‘May I Have This Seat?’ She made her feature film debut with Junejo in ‘Joyland’.

According to the organisers, the play ensures that viewers will have an experience that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
