NUST Wins Conduct Of Advanced AI & Blockchain Courses For GB

Islamabad: The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has been granted the mandate to conduct 6-month Advanced Certification Courses in the fields of AI/data science and blockchain for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) after winning a highly competitive process that involved multiple universities and organizations. One thousand applicants will be enrolled in these courses in both Skardu and Gilgit.

The programme is being led by NUST in collaboration with its international partners, including Microsoft, IBM and Cisco.

NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) Department of Computing Associate Dean Dr Faisal Shafait said, “Today marks a new beginning in the history of Gilgit-Baltistan a beginning powered by advanced learning in AI/data science and blockchain.”

To provide training in these cutting-edge technologies, competent NUST faculty in the aforementioned domains will travel to GB with associates. The learning will be both theoretical and practical to help the enrolled students become experts in these well-paying, highly marketable talents.

The programme will also include blended learning, in which students are guided and taught by professionals from the field. By creating self-sufficient and skilled human capital, this programme will establish the groundwork for turning GB into a knowledge hub.

Tools such as PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Keras, Apache Hadoop, Polkadot, IPFS, and Ethereum will be comprehensively covered to develop skilled manpower in python, data visualisation, big data analysis, deep learning, and machine learning.

The programme will be a significant contribution towards capacity building of people of GB and help augment employment opportunities in the region.
