Castaic, United States: A rapidly spreading wildfire broke out north of Los Angeles on Wednesday, forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents. The fire, which erupted near Castaic Lake, has already scorched over 9,400 acres (3,800 hectares) within hours, fueled by intense dry winds from the Santa Ana system.
Authorities issued evacuation orders for approximately 31,000 people in the surrounding areas, including Santa Clarita, as the flames advanced dangerously close to homes and infrastructure. “I’m just praying that our house doesn’t burn down,” one local resident told KTLA while preparing to flee.
The blaze, which has overwhelmed firefighting resources, comes as the region remains on high alert following the devastation caused by two massive fires that claimed the lives of over two dozen people and inflicted billions of dollars in damages in recent months.
As of now, the fire is still growing, with heavy smoke blanketing the area and creating hazardous air conditions. Emergency responders are working around the clock to protect lives and property as residents brace for what could be another catastrophic event in the ongoing wildfire season.
