ICT Launches Smog-Fighting Campaign in Islamabad

Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to address the rising air pollution and smog in the federal capital. The meeting included senior officials from the SSP Traffic, Excise Department, and Assistant Commissioners (ACs).
The meeting outlined strict measures to combat air pollution, including banning vehicles emitting smoke from entering Islamabad and taking action against factories contributing to poor air quality.
ACs were directed to intensify inspections of brick kilns, a known source of pollution.

A public awareness campaign was launched to educate citizens about the dangers of air pollution and encourage community involvement. Additionally, legal action will be taken against individuals caught burning garbage, a major contributor to smog.
DC Irfan Memon emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in managing air quality and assured that the administration would work with citizens to ensure a cleaner environment for Islamabad’s residents.
