Sindh’s Folk Art Steals the Show at Lok Mela

Islamabad: The Sindh Pavilion and Sindh Musical Night were the standout attractions at Lok Mela on Friday, captivating visitors with the rich cultural heritage of Sindh.
The pavilion showcased Sindhi handicrafts, textiles, artifacts, and traditional foods, while the musical night brought the vibrant folk performances and melodies of Sindh to life. Visitors were enchanted by the displays of Sindhi lacquer art, Persian weaving, pottery, embroidery, ajrak, and traditional carpet weaving, among other crafts.

Notable artisans like Mumtaz Khan Chand, Gul Khatun, and Badshahzadi displayed their work, and 17-year-old Chand Khan, a specialist in Sindhi shoes, was among the many talented artists featured.
Folk musicians and dance groups, including Ajmal Bheel, Sattar Jogi, and others, performed at the festival, which continues until Sunday, November 17.

The event was visited by the Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Khan, who appreciated the artisans’ skills and interacted with representatives of all provincial pavilions.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, also visited the festival and engaged with youth at the Youth Pavilion.
