Last Supermoon of the Year to Illuminate Skies Tonight

Lahore: Skywatchers in Pakistan will witness the last supermoon of 2024 tonight, which is set to peak at 2:28 AM Pakistan Standard Time.
Astronomer Dr Javed Iqbal explained that a supermoon occurs when the moon reaches its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit. During this event, the moon appears 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual.
The distance between the Earth and the moon during this supermoon will be approximately 360,378 kilometers, compared to the average orbital distance of 384,400 kilometers.
This celestial event offers a unique opportunity for stargazing enthusiasts across the country.
