Islamabad: Pakistan’s National Assembly was informed on Friday of a new policy under development to enhance the export of locally manufactured mobile phones.

Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Production Shahid Usman shared that 93 percent of mobile phones are now assembled domestically, signaling strong local production capacity, with most major brands operating assembly plants in Pakistan.

Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Muhammad Usman Awaisi also announced plans to introduce 820 high-capacity wagons to expand Pakistan Railways’ freight capacity.

Additionally, a project connecting Thar Coal to the railway network is underway, expected to further benefit rail freight. Negotiations with Reko Diq Mining Company are ongoing, aimed at boosting revenue for Pakistan Railways.
