Lahore: Hospitals in Lahore are witnessing a surge in patients suffering from respiratory issues due to intensified smog.
Common ailments include dry cough, asthma, and difficulty breathing, with influenza and viral infections affecting many.
Hospitals are also reporting a shortage of influenza vaccines.
Children, in particular, are experiencing pneumonia, chest infections, and dry cough, while cases of eye irritation and skin conditions are rising.
Over 1,680 patients have been treated at Mayo Hospital’s emergency department alone, with high patient influxes also reported at Jinnah, Gangaram, Services, and General hospitals.
Medical experts are advising those with respiratory issues to stay indoors, and individuals with asthma or weakened immune systems are urged to take extra precautions.
To reduce health risks, people are encouraged to wear masks, use protective eyewear, and include immunity-boosting foods like dry fruits and herbal teas in their diets.
