Lahore: The management of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was compelled to close the university’s entry and exit points on Monday after numerous students staged a protest against harassment incidents on campus.

The demonstrators attempted to hold a rally on Jail Road, alleging that a university clerk named ‘Hamid’ had harassed two female students.

Protesters expressed their dismay, stating that they did not feel safe even within an institution designed for women. In contrast, the university administration remained tight-lipped regarding the incidents.

Police Return Student’s Body

Meanwhile, police reported the handover of the body of a 23-year-old female student from Punjab University to her family on Monday.

Umme Habiba, a resident of Sialkot and a student of International Relations, had tragically taken her own life on Sunday evening. At the request of her parents, the body was returned without completing the legal formalities.

Habiba’s corpse was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her room at Hostel No. 8, where she lived with her elder sister.

According to police, her sister was visiting a friend’s room at the time of the incident. Initial investigations suggest that Habiba’s suicide was linked to depression following a breakup with her boyfriend.
